The Orange County Community Foundation Youth Council is announcing the availability of funding to non-profits and charitable programs serving the area of Orange County. These unrestricted grants are made from the OCCFYC endowment fund, and made possible through the generosity of our donors and the fund-raising efforts of the Youth Council.
The 40 OCCFYC members, representing all three county schools, will use their perspective as youth to decide what in Orange County most needs funding. Grants will be targeted for projects that improve the quality of life of the citizens of Orange County and fall into the following categories:
● arts and cultural activities
● civic and historical affairs
● community development
● health and human services
These unrestricted grants, like those of the Community Foundation, will be made only to organizations whose programs benefit the residents of Orange County. Grants from Orange County Community Foundation Youth Council must meet legal and tax requirements as to purpose and may be made only to non-profit organizations and government agencies. However, for-profit entities which apply will be considered if their project or program serves a charitable purpose.
Organizations and agencies that are tax-exempt according to Section 501© (3) of the Internal Revenue Code are eligible to apply. However, for-profit entities interested in funding charitable nonprofit programs may be eligible to apply. The OCCF Grants Committee will determine eligibility status in such cases. In order to make the best use of the unrestricted funds, the Orange County Community Foundation assigns a higher priority to programs that reach as many people as possible. Grants are made for specific purposes and time periods, and organizations will be asked to agree to a grant agreement which outlines the expectations regarding the use of granted funds. Evaluations of the use of funds and effectiveness of the programs are an integral part of the process.
Applications are available on the Foundation’s website at www.occf-in.org until 4:00 p.m. March 12 and must be submitted electronically to be considered. For more information, contact the Orange County Community Foundation at 812-723-4150.
